Nestled among tall oak and pine trees, St. Francis Preschool has been serving families in the North Bay Area for more than forty years. A safe environment, physically and emotionally, is provided where children are given the opportunity to become curious learners who are socially competent, cooperative, self-reliant, motivated, confident, and considerate.

St. Francis Preschool provides morning classes for children ages 3 to 5, with a focus on encouraging the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of the child.

Our semi-structured program includes periods of self-directed time where children learn and discover through their play, as well as teacher-directed activities. Our curriculum encourages problem solving, exploration, decision-making, creativity, self-expression, dramatic play, and group interaction. Daily activities include art, music and movement, literature, natural and physical science, and pre-reading and pre-math experiences. The spacious playground, which includes a safe rubberized surface that was recently installed, provides opportunities for imaginative and vigorous play. A positive approach to discipline has always been used. Parent education and resources are also available.

St. Francis Preschool is a nonsectarian school, that is to say, religion is not a part of the curriculum. We welcome all children without regard to race, religion, or ethnic origins. For those interested, there is an optional chapel program for Preschoolers and their families before school on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Mother Susan leads this lively program of songs and storytelling.
